1 killed in Satkhira ‘gunfight’, 7 held

14 December 2015, Nirapad News: Ringleader of a robber gang was killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Kapasdanga village in Patkelghata upazila of Satkhira early Monday.

The deceased is Abu Sayed, kingpin of the robber gang, son of late Elahi Box Morol of Kesabpur thana of Jessore.

According to press release of police, acting on tip off that a gang of robbers prepared to commit robber putting tree logs on Satkhira-Khulna highway.

Then, a team of police conducted drive in the area around 3:30am. Sensing the presence of police, robbers opened fire to them and blasted bomb. In retaliation, police also fired back that triggered a gunfight.

During the gunfight, two police officials were injured, the release added.

At one stage, police caught four robbers from the spot. And later, four more robbers, who sustained injuries during gunfight, were detained from beside the road.

Later, the injured were rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared robber kingpin Abu Sayed dead.

During the drive, police recovered a pipe gun, a revolver, two cartridges, two sharp chopper, four iron rods and three mobile phone sets from the spot.
