10 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi Arabia road crash

7 January 2018, Nirapad News: At least 10 Bangladeshi workers were killed and eight others injured in a road accident in Jizan province, the western part of Saudi Arabia yesterday.

The accident occurred at about 7 am (local time) yesterday when a pick-up truck, carrying 20 people, rolled over after a car rammed it from behind, according to a statement issued by Bangladesh consulate General in Riyadh today.

Of the total, eight people were killed on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries in hospital. All the victims were employees of a Saudi company, Al Fahd, an expatriate Bangladeshi living in Saudi Arabia told BSS.

But, the identities of the victims could not be confirmed immediately.

Besides, Bangladesh consulate in Jeddah sent its official to the scene after receiving the news. The consulate is also maintaining close contacts with the Saudi authorities in this regard.

Jizan province is some 800 kilometres away from the port city of Jeddah and situated near the border with Yemen.
