10 injured in clash over land ownership
03 August 2015, Nirapad News: Ten people have been injured in a clash between two groups over ownership of land in a recently abolished enclave in the district.
The incident took place at ‘Dasiarchhara’ of Kalirhat in Kurigram a day after the Indian enclave was merged with Bangladesh following the implementation of LBA between two countries.
Locals said Obaidul along with his associates went to fence a area where national flag was hoisted to celebrate exchange of enclaves between Bangladesh and India but a group led by Siraj opposed it.
Following an altercation, two groups clashed over ownership of land leaving ten people injured.
Of the injured, Siraj and his two brothers Abul Kalam Azad and Anisur Rahman were admitted to Fulbaria upazila health complex.
Officer-in-Charge of Fulbaria thana (investigation) Badruddoza said police have been deployed in the area to keep the situation under control.
After buying 15 decimals of land from Obaidul’s father late Abdul Awal, Sirajuddin was cultivating the land over the years for a long time. When Obaidul and his associates went to fence it, clashes ensued.
