101 Covid deaths, 3,473 fresh cases

Bangladesh on Saturday reported 101 more deaths from coronavirus for the second consecutive day.

The country’s COVID-19 death count now stands at 10,283.

During the last 24 hours, 3,473 fresh cases were reported, taking the total caseload to 7,15,252.

Health authorities also reported 5,907 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 6,08,815 according to data released by the government.

In the last 24 hours, 257 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 16,185 samples. With this, a total of 51,50,663 samples were tested in the country.

Of the newly deceased persons, 67 are from Dhaka, 23 from Chattogram, three each from Khulna and Mymensingh, two each from Rajshah and Sylhet, and rest one from Barishal division.

The infection rate is 21.46 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 13.86 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 85.12 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.44 per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 30,15,016 people globally and infected 14,06,45,317 as of today afternoon.
