11 killed in separate road crashes in Narsingdi and Sherpur
In Narsingdi, four motorcyclists were killed after a bus hit their motorbike on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Tarabagh area of Raipura upazila of Narsingdi on Friday.
The deceased are Ramjan Mia, 17, son of a certain Asad Choukidar, Dalim Mia, 17, son of one Hafizuddin, Shohagh Mia, 17, son of one Sharif Mia, and Yamin, 23.
The accident took place around 7:00am when a Dhaka-bound bus from Kishoreganj knocked the bike carrying four people, leaving all the riders killed on the spot, said Bhairab highway police station officer-in-charge AKM Kauser.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to local hospital morgue, he added.
In Sherpur, two people were killed after a motorcycle hit a tree by Kamaria-Nakla road in Baniapara of sadar upazila in the morning, reports UNB.
The deceased are Janu Mia, 17, son of one Makbul Hossain and Rajib Ahmed, 18, son of one Abdus Salam of Poladeshi village in Nokla upazila.
Sherpur sadar police station officer-in-charge Shamsul Islam said the accident took place in the area around 9:30am when the motorbike carrying the two dashed a roadside tree on their way home, leaving Janu killed on the spot and Rajib injured.
Later, Rajib died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, he added.
In another accident, a couple was killed in a similar accident in Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
The dead are : Amirul Islam, 35, and his wife Mansura, 30. They were residents of Birampur village under Madhabdi thana.
Narsindgi Sadar traffic inspector Humayun said a microbus hit a motorcycle in Baghata area aroud 1:15pm, leaving them dead on the spot.
Yet in another accident, three people were killed in Madhabdi old bus stand area under Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
Police said a Habiganj-bound bus rammed into a rickshaw at about 1:30pm, leaving rickshaw-pullar, its passenger and a pedestrian dead on the spot.
Two of the dead were identified as passenger Ratan Mia, 45, pedestrian Makbul Hossain. Identity of the rickshaw-puller could not be known yet.
Separate cases have been filed with Sadar, Raipura and Madhabdi police stations.
