13 more COVID-19 deaths, 912 fresh cases

Though the new cases of coronavirus started to decrease in last few days, but the death and new case are increasing again. In the last few days, the new cases of the virus were below the 600 mark. But on Monday it rose to 845. Today, this number has increased even more. In the last 24 hours, 912 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 5,52,087.

Bangladesh has confirmed 13 more deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, raising death toll to 8,489, the Directorate General of Health Services said.

Health authorities also reported 1,229 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,05,339.

In the last 24 hours, 219 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 17,973 samples and tested 17,775.

With this, a total of 41,80,938 samples were tested in the country.

All of the deceased were male. Of them, 10 are from Dhaka, and one each from Chattogram, Barishal, and Rangpur divisions.

The infection rate is 5.13 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 13.20 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 91.53 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.54 per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 26,13,419 people globally and infected 11,78,04,671 as of today afternoon.
