13 more Indian Covid variant carriers found in Bangladesh
Bangladesh has reported 13 more Indian COVID-19 variant cases.
Of them, seven people did not visit India recently which means they have been infected locally.
“Seven new patients, who did not visit India, have been detected with the new variant. So, it is sure that the transmission happened locally,” said Prof Tahmina Shirin, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), on Saturday morning.
The IEDCR shared this on the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID) website recently.
Of the 13 new cases, seven were from Chapainawabganj.
On May 8, two people returned from India were detected with the Indian variant.
