Bangladesh has reported 164 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths, the highest number in a single day since its first detection on March 8 last year while it recorded 9,964 fresh cases during the same period.
The daily health update of the Directorate General of Health Services came up with the statistics on Monday.
“A total of 164 Coronavirus patients died in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the virus to 15,229. The total cases of infection have surged to 954,881 as 9,964 new cases were confirmed during the period,” said the DGHS.
