2 Biman staffs gets fresh 7-day remand over PM flight glitch
6 January 2017, Nirapad News: A court here yesterday granted seven days fresh remand to two staffs of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in connection with a case filed over the glitch in a flight carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The duo, Engineer Rokonuzzaman and technician Siddiqur Rahman placed before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sazzadur Rahman and he passed with a 10-day remand prayer after completion of seven days remand. They were placed for seven days remand by another court on December 28.
While another seven staff of Biman accused in the case are now being interrogated after taking them on a seven-day remand. They are, its chief engineer Debesh Chowdhury, chief engineer (quality assurance) SS Siddique, principal engineer (system and maintenance) Billal Hossain, engineers Shamiul Haque, Niron Chandra Bishwas, Lutfar Rahman and Zakir Hossain.
Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested them from different areas of the city on December 21.
A case was lodged against nine officials of the national flag carrier with Airport Police Station under the Special Powers Act.
A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to make an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan on her way to Budapest on November 27 following low oil pressure in its engine.
