The first priorities for COVID-19 vaccine will be given to those needed first, assured Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday.

The government will give priorities in vaccination to those needed first, assured Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday.

“The coronavirus death toll in Bangladesh is lower than any other countries in the world as we were able to give proper treatment to the countrymen and controlled the outbreak. InshaAllah, we will be successful in vaccination. Firstly, the government will give vaccine to the general people, ” the Minister said.

Zahid Maleque came up with the disclosure at a programme, just after arriving COVID-19 vaccine in the country from India.

The programme was held at National Institute for Population Research and Training (NIPORT) in the capital’s Azimpur area today.

Bangladesh received 17.99 lakh doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, gifted by India, this morning.

Some hospitals will administer the vaccines after getting permission from the Prime Minister, said the Health Minister.
