Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda said the election environment for Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) polls is peaceful.
He made the comments at a view exchange meeting with the members of law enforcement agencies at local Circuit House here on Sunday.
Terming the electoral environment as peaceful ahead of CCC polls, the Chief Election Commissioner said a huge number of city dwellers are participating in the election campaign spontaneously.
He directed the election officials to ensure the safety of polling agents. “All candidates must maintain the electoral code of conduct, so that no question arises about it,” he added.
He added that EVMs have gained acceptance among voters. “Everyone should play their roles to ensure a participatory and fair election,” he added.
Divisional Commissioner ABM Azad, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Mominur Rahman, Chattogram Range DIG Anwar Hossain, Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Saleh Mohammad Tanvir and Chattogram Regional Election Officer Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, among others attended the function.
