Bangladesh on Saturday saw another 1,014 cases and 12 deaths from novel coronavirus in last 24 hours. The country registered over 1,000 cases for fourth consecutive days as 1,066 infections were detected on Friday.
With the new figures, the tally of COVID-19 infections reached 5,56,236 and death toll 8,527.
The Directorate General of Health Services said this through a press release on Saturday afternoon.
The press release said another 1,138 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,10,310.
In the last 24 hours, 219 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 16,206 samples where 6.26 per cent tested positive.
With this, a total of 42,48,245 samples were tested in the country and total positivity rate 13.09 per cent.
So far, the recovery rate is 91.74 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.53 per cent.
China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.
According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 26,53,390 people globally and infected 11,96,95,003 as of today afternoon.
