101 Covid deaths, 4,417 fresh cases

Breaking the previous records of fatalities, Bangladesh reported 101 deaths in a single day from complications of COVID-19.

With this, the death toll rose to 10,182 in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am on Friday.

During this timeline, 4,417 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 7,11,779.

Health authorities also reported 5,694 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 6,02,908 according to data released by the government.

In the last 24 hours, 255 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 18,906 samples. With this, a total of 51,34,478 samples were tested in the country.

Of the newly deceased persons, 59 are from Dhaka, 20 from Chattogram, four from Barishal, five from Khulna, three each from Rajshahi and Mymensingh, six from Rangpur and rest one from Sylhet division.

The infection rate is 23.36 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 13.86 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 84.43 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.43 per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 3,002,419 people globally and infected 13,98,16,716 as of today afternoon.
