Passengers thronged at Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka for advance train tickets on the occasion upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, a day before the beginning of the sale. They were seen gathering at the station since Friday morning.
Many holidaymakers have sent family members to their houses in advance to reduce the hassle of the journey.
Today being a weekly holiday, the station is more crowded than the previous days. Passengers are taking advance tickets from April 22 to 26 today.
Kamalapur Railway Station manager Mohammad Masud Sarwar said the passengers who wanted to board the train on or before April 26 have come today to buy tickets.
“Tickets are being given at all the counters. Passengers will get tickets as long as there are tickets. Tickets are being given online as well as at the counter.”
Passengers will have to show NID card or photocopy of birth certificate while buying advance ticket at the station counter. A passenger could buy tickets for four persons.
The selling advance train tickets will start from tomorrow (April 23).
Advance tickets for April 27 will be sold on April 23 while the tickets for April 28, 29, 30 and May 1 will be sold on April 24, 25, 26, and 27 respectively, said Bangladesh Railway.
Fifty percent tickets would be sold from counters and the rest online.
