24 gold bars worth Tk 1.25cr seized, one arrested
06 August 2015, Nirapad News: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel detained a man with 24 gold bars weighing 2.4 kilograms from Bhuindoba village of Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat district Wednesday.
Sources of the paramilitary force said the estimated market value of the seized gold bars is about Tk 1.25 crore.
The detainee is identified as Mamunur Rashid, son of Sahir Uddin of Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur district.
Joypurhat BGB -3 battalion additional director Nasir Imam Rumi said that they conducted a drive following the tip-off on gold smuggling through Koya frontier area.
The BGB team detained Mamun and seized the gold bars, found hidden into toolbox of the detainee’s motorcycle after searching, he added.
