24 Jamaat men among 481 held in Chittagong
07 November 2015, Nirapad News: Police, in overnight special drive, detained 481 people, including 24 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Chhatra Shibir at different places of the district.
During the drive, a light gun (LG), two pistols and six rounds of bullet have been recovered from Mirsarai Upazila.
Moreover, police seized 1,500 pieces of Yaba tablets, one-kilogram cannabis and 252 litres locally made liquor.
Chittagong additional superintendent of police Mohammad Naimul Hasan told that 22 people were rounded up from different villages of Satkania upazila while two Jamaat-Shibir men, the accused in several sabotage cases, were held from Sitakunda upazila.
Besides, of the arrestees, 368 were wanted accused while 81 were accused in regular cases.
The joint operation has been conducted around the district to prevent crimes and sabotages. The drive will be continued, the additional SP added.
