257 more dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hours
A total of 257 dengue infected patients were hospitalised across the country during 24 hours till Saturday morning.
Of them, 219 were admitted to different hospitals in the capital, while 38 were admitted to the hospitals outside Dhaka.
It was stated in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday (August 14).
According to the press release, a total of 1,040 dengue patients have been undergoing treatment at the country’s public and private hospitals. Of them, 954 have been undergoing treatment at 41 government and private hospitals, while 86 patients have been undergoing treatment in different divisions of the country.
A total of 4,838 patients have so far returned home after recovery, the press release further said.
Counting the new hospital admissions, the total number of hospitalised dengue patients in the country has climbed to 5,902 since January, with 5,603 of them in the capital city accounting for 95 per cent.
The DGHS authorities have so far sent data about 24 suspected dengue deaths to the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research for confirmation if the deaths were due to dengue but the institute was yet to give its feedback.
