30 farmers get compensation cheque of about Tk 16 crore
22 November 2015, Nirapad News: The government distributed cheques of Taka 15 crore 79 lakh among 30 affected farmers today as compensation for acquiring land for the construction of 3rd Shitalakhya bridge in Narayanganj.
A simple function was arranged on the occasion at Syedpur in Sadar upazila this morning. Deputy commissioner Anisur Rahman Mia distributed the cheques as the chief guest.
Presided over by ADC (REV) Nazrul Islam, the function was addressed by Sadar UNO Afroza Akhter Chowdhury and Chairman of Gognagar Union Parishad Nowshad Ali.
Anisur Rahaman said over 10 acres of land have been acquired from 100 farmers of the area at the cost of Taka over 55 crore by the ministry of land administration considering the price of prevailing market price. The rest Taka over 40 crore would be distributed among 70 other farmers in phases.
The Shitalakhya bridge authority has already floated International tender call with an estimated cost of Taka 377 crore. The bridge will be 1,290 meter long and 15 meter wide.
