300 weapons submitted to police in Magura
Magura, 19 May 2015, Nirapad News: In a move to reduce local disputes, clashes and conflicts, villagers submitted over 300 different types of locally-made weapons to police spontaneously in Sreepur upazila of the district on Monday.
People from eight unions of the upazila brought their weapons including shield, machete and spear at a program on Sreepur Thana premises at noon and handed over the weapons to the district’s Superintendent of Police (SP) AKM Ehsan Ullah.
Upazila Community Policing Committee organized the function with Shreepur Thana Officer-in-charge (OC) Shah M Awlad Hossain in the chair while the SP was present as chief guest.
Sreepur Upazila Parishad chairman Badrul Alam Hero and senior assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Sudarshan Kumar Roy and Upazila Community Policing Committee convener Humayunur Rashid Muhit, among others, were present at the function.
