32 candidates on race in Supreme Court Bar polls

15 March 2016, Nirapad News: A total of 32 candidates are contesting against fourteen posts in the Supreme Court Bar Association polls for 2016-17 year.

Awami League (AL) backed ‘Sammilito Ainjibi Samannay Parishad’ and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) backed ‘Jatiyatabadi Lawyers Oikya’ are carrying out their campaigning under the ‘white’ and ‘blue’ panels.

Senior lawyer Yousuf Hossain Humayun and Advocate Azhar Ullah Bhiyan are leading the white panel.

While senior lawyer Jainul Abedin and Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon are leading the blue panel.

“The two-day polls will be held on March 23 and 24,” said Nimesh Chandra Das, superintendent of Supreme Court Bar. The poll is being held in fourteen posts of the executive committee.

A total of 5,028 lawyers will cast their votes in the polls.
