459 PSC answer sheets burnt in mysterious fire in Sylhet

06 December 2015,Nirapad News: A total of 459 answer sheets of the recently concluded Primary School Certificate (PSC) examinations were burnt in a mysterious fire in sadar upazila complex on Saturday morning.

A total of 450 teachers started checking the PSC answer sheets at sadar upazila complex on December 2. They found 459 answer sheets, tied in 14 bundles, lying burnt in a glass-covered room of the complex on Saturday morning.

A case was filed with Shahporan Police Station on behalf of the sadar upazila education officer.

Deputy Director Tahmina Begum of Sylhet Divisional Primary Education Department said it might be an incident of sabotage.

An anonymous source said the officials of the complex were trying to conceal the incident.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mir Mahabubur Rahman, also president of the PSC examination committee, and Upazila Education Officer Mohiuddin Ahmed said the answer sheets included 141 of English, 318 of Bangla and Bishwa Porichoy.

District Primary Education Officer Nurul Islam said, “We will investigate the incident to know the details.”

Primary School Certificate examinations that began across the country on November 22 ended on November 30. The result is scheduled to be published on December 23.
