49 Jamaat-Shibir men charged with attacking police camp in Khulna
16 June 2015, Nirapad News: Police have pressed charges against 49 Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists, including Khulna city unit Jamaat secretary Advocate Jahangir Hossain Helal, in a case filed for firing, blasting crude bombs and petrol bombs on Nirala police camp in the city.
Kazi Mostaque Ahmed, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station and the investigation officer of the case, submitted a chargesheet to the Magistrate Court on June 11. However, the matter was disclosed on Tuesday.
According to the case statement, the Jamaat-Shibir men exploded crude bombs and petrol bombs and opened fire on the police camp on December 13, 2013 after the execution of condemned Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah.
They also engaged in a clash with police when the law enforcers opened fire, which left a young boy, Nasim, dead.
Police filed a case with the Sadar Police Station in this regard on December 14.
