509 new COVID cases, 15 deaths in 24hrs

The country’s infection number reached 5,33,953 on Thursday with 509 more frsh cases.

Meanwhile, the death tally stands at 8,087 as 15 deaths were recorded in last 24 hours.

Of the deceased, 12 were male while three were female. All of them died in different hospitals across the country.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on this afternoon.

Some 611 more corona patients were declared free from the virus infection in a single day, taking the total recovered number to 4,78,546, the Health authorities informed.

The coronavirus vaccination programme has started at five hospitals in the capital.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak received COVID-19 vaccine shot at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) vaccination centre this morning. He is the first cabinet member who took the vaccine.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.
