58 COVID deaths, 5,683 cases reported in a day

Bangladesh on Saturday reported 58 deaths and 5,683 cases from novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am.

With the new figure, the total death toll reached 9,213 and cases to 6,30,277 in the country.

Health authorities also reported 2,364 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,49,775.

In the last 24 hours, 227 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 24,100 samples and tested 24,548.

With this, a total of 47,52,661 samples were tested in the country.

The latest official figures put the recovery rate at 87.23 per cent, while the mortality rate stands at 1.46 per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 28,53,007 people globally and infected 13,09,54,934 as of today afternoon.
