7 killed, 17 burnt in Comilla arson

Comilla, 03 February 2015, Nirapad News: Seven passengers were killed and 17 others burnt when a group of miscreants hurled a petrol bomb on a Dhaka-bound night coach at Jogmohanpur on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Chouddagram upazila of the district early today.
Monir Hossain, assistant director of Comilla Fire Service, said: “Miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a Dhaka-bound night coach of Icon Paribahan on Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 3:30am, leaving seven passengers dead on the spot and 16 others injured. Police rescued the bodies from the spot and sent those to CMCH for postmortem”.
Chouddagram police said the Dhaka-bound night coach from Cox’s Bazar came under petrol bomb attack by a group of miscreants when it reached at Jogmohanpur leaving 7 passengers dead on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Comilla Medical College and Hospital and Chouddagram Upazila Health Complex.
Dr Habib Abdullah Sohel, director of Comilla Medical College Hospital said: “Three of the injured sustained 70% burn injury. Nine seriously injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital”.
The bomb attack took place on the 29th day of the countrywide nonstop blockade and the third day of 72-hour Hartal (shutdown) enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
