78 Covid deaths, 5,819 fresh cases

With the deaths of 78 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Sunday, Bangladesh’s Covid-19 death count now stands at 9,739.

This is the highest daily death counts since the pandemic hit the country on March last year. On Saturday, the country saw 77 Covid-19 deaths.

During this timeline, 5,819 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 6,84,756.

Also, 4,212 patients made recovery from Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 5,76,590.

Among the latest day’s victims, 53 were male and 25 female. Of the victims, 77 died in different hospitals and one at home.

Moreover, 47 of them hailed from Dhaka, 20 from Chattogram, four each from Rajshahi and Khulan, two from Sylhet and one from Rangpur division.

In the last 24 hours, 248 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected tested 29,376.

As of today, a total of 7,279 men and 2,460 women died from Covid-19 in Bangladesh.

The infection rate is 19.08 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 13.69 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 84.20 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.42 per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer’s Covid-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 29,41,255 people globally and infected 13,61,28,375 while 10,95,12,861 made recovery as of today afternoon.
