79 children, adolescent journalists get free laptops
09 November 2015, Nirapad News: The government today provided free laptops among 79 children and adolescent journalists to write news about the children, which will help them as worthy citizens in the country.
On the occasion at a function in the auditorium of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said alongside providing free textbook, the government has started free laptop distribution among students to maximize the opportunity of demographic dividend.
“As youths make up 70 percent of the total population, the country has enormous opportunity to utilize demographic dividend to steer its economic growth,” he added.
Under the project titled “One laptop one dream”, ICT Division in financial assistance of Exim Bank has distributed free laptops among 79 children and adolescent journalists.
Palak said young generation should be built with giving ICT facilities to supplement the efforts of building “Digital Bangladesh” as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“We believe that young generation will be the main driving force of building Digital Bangladesh. So, they need to be developed with providing ICT knowledge to turn them into human resource,” he added.
Secretary of ICT Division Shayam Sundar Shikdar and Deputy Managing Director of Exim Bank Rumi Ihsanul Haque, among others, addressed the function.
