86 Covid-19 deaths, 3,357 fresh cases

With the deaths of 86 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Tuesday, Bangladesh’s Covid-19 death count now stands at 26,195.

On Monday, the country saw 94 Covid deaths and 89 the day before yesterday.

During this timeline, 3,357 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 15,00,618.

Health authorities also reported 4,102 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 14,25,985 according to data released by the government.

In the last 24 hours, 789 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 27,673 samples and tested 28,097.

With this, a total of 89,28,345 samples were tested in the country.

Among 86 deaths, 44 are male and 42 female, the press release said, adding that one was in his 10s, three were in their 20s, six in their 30s, eight in their 40s, and 15 in their 50s while 53 were above 60 years.

The infection rate is 11.95 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 16.81 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 95.03 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.75 per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer’s Covid-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 45,26,905 people globally and infected 21,80,72,353 while 19,49,74,546 made recovery as of today afternoon.
