Fishermen in the coastal districts are set to restart fishing hilsa as the 22-day ban on catching, selling, hoarding and transporting of the fish is going to end on Monday midnight.

The government imposed the ban on October 4 to make the breeding season interruption-free which is going to end this mid night, said Md Iftekhar Hossain, public relations officer of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

As the ban is about to end, fishermen have become busy hunting for hilsa.

Meanwhile, 11 thousand 118 metric tons VGF rice were allocated for the fishermen during the van, sources in the ministry said.
