ACC finally promotes its 58 officials
10 November 2015, Nirapad News: After a long hassle with its Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) finally promoted its 58 officials on Tuesday.
In a gazette notification, the ACC elevated five deputy directors to directors while nine assistant directors to deputy directors, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
Besides, 29 officials were promoted to assistant directors while 12 to deputy assistant directors and three others to court inspectors.
The five ACC officials promoted to directors are M Akhter Hossain, Abu Sayed, Mir M Zainul Abedin Shebly, Shirin Parveen and Syed Iqbal Hossain.
Earlier in the day, the Commission at a meeting approved the promotions as recommended by the DPC.
In May this year, ACC’s then secretary Maksudul Hasan Khan, who heads the DPC, raised question over the Commission’s decision in promoting some officials without taking seniority into account.
Amid the differences of opinion between the Commission and the secretary, the ACC sent a letter to the Public Administration requesting it to withdraw Maksudul Khan.
Considering the ACC’s letter, the Public Administration in an official order on October 11 withdrew him and appointed ACC director general Abu M Mustafa Kamal as its secretary, paving the path for promoting the officials.
