Accused killed in ‘gunfight’
18 August 2015, Nirapad News: An accused of a case over shooting a baby in her mother’s womb and one other to death was killed in a “gunfight” between the accused and detective branch (DB) and patrol police at Dori Magura Al-Amin Orphanage area early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan Ajibor, 34, accused no. 3 of the case.
Senior assistant superintendent of police of the circle Sudarshan Kumar Roy told one of the main accused of the case over shooting a baby in her mother’s womb and one other to death Ajibor and his gang were hiding in the area.
On information, DB and a team of patrol police conducted a drive in the area around 1:00 am to arrest them but, sensing the presence of police, they started shooting. Police also started firing to defend themselves, he added.
Later, police found a dead body from the spot while others managed to flee the spot.
ASP Sudarshan Kumar Roy also said police found one pistol and one pipe gun from the spot.
On July 23, supporters of Magura Juba League activist Kamrul Bhuiyan clashed with former Juba League supporters Mohammad Ali and Ajibor.
Najma Begum, 30, the pregnant woman, and her neighbour Miraz Hossain were hit by stray bullets, while one other was killed during the clash.
