‘Action to be taken once Police gets Khaleda Zia’s arrest warrant in hand’
26 February 2015, Nirapad News: An official of the Detective Branch (DB) of police on Thursday said that an action will be taken against Khaleda Zia soon after receiving the arrest warrants issued by a Dhaka court on Wednesday in two graft cases against her.
Responding to a question by reporters that whether BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia would be arrested following the order of the special court, the joint commissioner of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said the warrant for the arrest of BNP chief Khaleda Zia had not yet reached the police. He said actions would be taken in line with the directive of the Special Judge’s Court once the police received the warrant issued by it.
Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam was addressing a press conference on Thursday afternoon at the DMP media centre in the city. Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Dhaka-3 Special Judge’s Court, on Wednesday issued arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia cancelling her bail in Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases.
Arrest warrants were also issued against two others accused in the cases former Magura lawmaker Kazi Salimul Haque Kamal and Sharfuddin Ahmed, a businessman, according to a news agency.
