ADB mission exchanges views with Faridpur Pourasabha councilors
13 October 2015, Nirapad News:A delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Syed Khatib Alam, a senior climate-resilient integrated urban planning expert of the bank based in Manila, held a daylong view exchange meeting with Faridpur Pourasabha councilors and leading citizens of the town yesterday.
Faridpur Pourasabha Mayor Sheikh Mahatab Ali Methu presided over the meeting. At the very outset of the meeting, Town Planner Saiful Islam presented some salient features of the municipality before the visiting team.
The meeting discussed in detail various issues, including disaster management, water treatment, sludge management, solid waste management and traffic management.
Syed Khatib Alam stressed the need for building and expanding the town in a planned manner and said otherwise it will create a hazardous situation making the lives of citizens miserable.
He also emphasized preparing a master plan keeping the requirements of the town dwellers for the next 20 years.
Urban climate expert of the ADB team Ephrat Youez also took part in the discussion.
Among others, CEO of Faridpur Pourasabha Md. Shahjahan Mia, leading citizens Prof. Md. Shahjahan, Prof. Altaf Hossain, leading business person Awolad Hossain Babor, Advocate Jesmine Kabir, councilors Shamsul Arefin Sagor and Idris Ali Khan were present.
