Ahsan Manzil Museum celebrates International Mother Language Day
21 February 2016, Nirapad News: To mark the International Mother Language Day 2016, Ahsan Manzil Museum organised a handwriting competition for children at its precincts on February 19 in the city. The competition was held in four categories. Almost two hundred and fifty seven children took part in the competition. Jahangir Hussain, keeper of Bangladesh National Museum and chairman of International Council of Museums (ICOM) in Bangladesh was present as chief guest at the competition. Md Humayun Malik, deputy-keeper of Ahsan Manzil Museum presided over the inauguration of the competition. Md Habibur Rahman, display officer of Ahsan Manzil Museum delivered the welcome speech at the event.
Professor Dr Hosne Ara Begum, chairman, Department of Bangla, Jagannath University and Mohammad Jillur Rahman, deputy-director of the National Public Library were the jury members of the competition.
Speakers at the competition asked the participating children to learn speaking and writing in Bangla properly. They also called upon the United Nations to declare Bangla as one of its official languages.
Winners of the “Ka” category were- Ridita Sarkar of Pogoz Laboratory School and College followed by Fariza Noor Shafiq and Humaida Kabir Shakira of Saint Francis Xavier’s High School (SFXHS); “Kha” category were- Sadiya Afrin Mira, Moumita Dey and Preeti Zinta Ghosh all from SFXHS; “Ga” category were- Nadiya Mehzabeen Rupma and Fariha Haque from SFXHS at first and third places and Tahsinah Rahman Nushfa from Viqarunnesa Noon School and College; “Gha” category were- Hridoy Chandra Rai of Millat High School, Afifa Yasmin of Bangla Bazaar Government’s Girls’ High School and Anindita Saha of SFXHS.
