25 February 2015, Nirapad News: Indian Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen today called for writing history of all parts of the undivided Bengal.

“It is necessary to know the history of different parts of the country,” he said at a book publication ceremony at the main auditorium of National Museum in the city.

The function was held marking the publication of ‘Manikganjer Shato Manik (Part-II)’ and Bikrampur: History and Personalities (Part IV) written by M Azharul Islam.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith presided over the function. Finance Secretary Mahbub Alam, Public Service Commission Chairman Iqram Ahmed, Prof Dr Maniruzzaman Bhuiyan, Manikganj Sahitya O Sangskritil Parishad President Dr Mhfuza Khanam, Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, Mir Motahar Hossain, former Minister Mizanur Rahman Shelley and M Azharul Islam also addressed the function, among others.

The finance minister said Amartya Sen is a respected personality all over the world.

“It is matter of pride for us that he is the son of Bikrampur,” he added.

Muhith thanked the writer of the two books.
