Ambia Khatun Majumder Gold Medal introduced at DU

09 Septembar 2015, Nirapad News: A new Gold Medal titled ‘Ambia Khatun Majumder Gold Medal’ has been introduced at the Department of Oriental Art of Dhaka University (DU).

Managing Director of Mahin Group Abdullah Al-Mahmud handed over a cheque for Taka 5 lakhs to DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin today at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to introduce the gold medal in memory of his mother. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Chairman of Oriental Art Department Dr Malay Bala and other faculty members attended on this occasion.

Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student will get ‘Ambia Khatun Majumder Gold Medal’ award who will secure the highest CGPA in Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) final examination from the Department of Oriental Art of DU.

The VC thanked the donor for introducing this gold medal at Dhaka University and hoped that the students would be highly benefited and encouraged from this donation.

Ambia Khatun Majumder was born in 1929 in Comilla and died in 2010 in Dhaka. She was a daughter of late Khan Bahadur Shujat Ali Chowdhury and wife of late Politician Abdul Hamid Majumder.
