Another train derailed by miscreants during blockade today
Nirapad News : Rail communication of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet remained suspended for six hours today following a train derailment after miscreants removed fishplates from the railway tracks in Comilla on the fifth day of the countrywide nonstop blockade enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
The train service resumed around 11:30am, said Anwar Hossain, stationmaster of Nangalkot.
The engine and a bogie of Chittagong-bound Godhuli Express from Dhaka veered off the tracks near Nangalkot outer station around 5:15am but none was hurt, a correspondent from Comilla reported quoting the stationmaster.
The sabotage took place when the 20-party alliance is observing the nationwide blockade marking the first anniversary of January 5 parliamentary polls, what it labels as “democracy killing day”.
Talking to the correspondent, the stationmaster said miscreants removed the fishplates from the lines resulting in the derailment of the train.
Later, a rescue train from Laksam reached the spot and repaired the rail lines.
On Thursday, at least 50 passengers were injured as five carriages and the locomotive of a train bound for Chittagong derailed at Kulaura of Moulvibazar after suspected blockaders removed fishplates.
