Apan Jewellers’ owner Dildar chargesheeted in gold smuggling cases
A charge sheet was submitted against Apan Jewellers’ owner Dildar Hossain Selim by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) on Tuesday.
The chargesheet was submitted in a case for building stocks of gold ornaments through “smuggling and tax dodging by Dildar Hossain Selim.”
Assistant Revenue Officer Delwar Hossain, the investigation officer in the case, placed the chargesheet in court on February 23.
It was disclosed by the relevant General Registration (GR) branch of the court on Tuesday.
The CIID filed five separate cases under the Money Laundering Prevention Act against Apan Jewelers’ owner Dilder Hossain Selim on August 12, 2017 after seizing some 15 maunds of gold and diamonds brought by “smuggling and tax dodging.”
Two cases were filed with Gulshan police station and one each with Dhanmondi police station, Uttara police station and Ramna police station.
Dildar Hossain Selim is the father of Shafat Ahmed, the prime accused in a case filed against hin for raping two university students at Banani in Dhaka.
