Arrest Jabbar with help of Interpol
24 February 2015, Nirapad News: The International Crimes Tribunal has asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest fugitive war criminal Abdul Jabbar with the help of International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
While talking to journalists after the verdict on Jabbar’s war crimes case, Prosecutor Jahid Imam endorsed the information.
He said: “The tribunal has asked the IGP to arrest Abdul Jabbar, seeking the help of Interpol.”
Earlier in the day, the former Jatiya Party lawmaker engineer Mohammad Abdul Jabbar has been sentenced to imprisonment unto death for crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
The three-member International Crimes Tribunal 1, led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, pronounced the verdict, considering the fugitive war criminal’s age.
Jabbar, now 85, has been a fugitive since 2009.
The former chairman of the local unit of the Peace Committee during the 1971 Liberation War had played a key role in the formation of razakar force and led the collaborators in committing crimes in Mathbaria.
