Asian stocks stall after Wall Street slips
25 March 2015, Nirapad News: Asian stocks stalled on Wednesday following declines on Wall Street. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan edged up 0.2 per cent after a small bounce the previous day. South Korean and Australian shares were little changed, while the volatile Shanghai Composite Index lost 1 per cent as investors took profits after 10 straight daily gains. China’s benchmark indexes have climbed some 55 per cent. Japan’s Nikkei rose 0.2 per cent.
Australia’s stock market ended flat. The S&P/ASX 200 index closed up 0.07 per cent, or 4.2 points, at 5,973.3. New Zealand’s benchmark index, NZX 50 edged down 0.2 per cent, or 12.8 points, to finish at 5,857.8. The dollar was steady at 119.61 yen.
In commodities, Brent crude oil bounced. Brent crude rose 0.3 per cent to $55.27 a barrel.
