Australia beat Scotland by 7 wickets
Hobart, Nirapad News :Australia won by 7 wickets against Scotland in a cricket World Cup Pool A game at the Bellerive Oval on Saturday.
Sent in to bat on a lively pitch, the Australia bowlers exploited the conditions to the hilt. Experienced Kyle Coetzer failed to open his account in 11 balls before he fell to left-armer Starc.
Scotland was skittled for 130 in the 26th over thanks to Mitchell Starc’s searing form with the ball, with the southpaw paceman taking figures of 4 for 14.
With rain a constant threat and a no-result untenable for Australia, the hosts looked to collect the runs as quickly as possible.
Rain did come, sending the players off for a lengthy break, but when play resumed, the likes of David Warner (21 off 6) and James Faulkner (10 off 6) carved up Scotland’s inadequate attack to race to victory.
