Awami League MP Latif leads demo near Khaleda’s office
15 February 2015, Nirapad News: Awami League MP from Chittagong-11 constituency MA Latif together with some people staged a demonstration with 14 dummies of dead bodies near BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office protesting the ongoing transport blockade, hartal and violence.
Nearly 40 people led by Latif carrying the dummies of dead bodies in a truck came to lay a siege to Khaleda’s office around 1:30pm, aiming to register their protest against the killings of people by petrol bomb attacks.
As they reached the entry point of the road-No 86 in Gulshan-2, police intercepted them. Later, they staged a brief demonstration there.
Addressing the programme, Latif said despite being a former Prime Minister and the chief of a democratic political party, Khaleda Zia has let loose hyenas and criminals against the general public in the name of hartal and blockade sitting in her office.
Mentioning that many mothers have lost their children in the hands of the 20-party cadres during the hartal and blockade, he urged Khaleda Zia to try to understand the pains of losing children as her younger son died a few days back. Latif called upon the BNP chairperson to call off the hartal and blockade and stop petrol bomb attacks on people.
Meanwhile, a group of Jubo League men riding a number of motorbikes staged a showdown in front of the BNP chief’s office around 4:10pm.
The ruling party men entered the road-No 86 through its south point chanting anti-hartal and blockade slogans, and left the scene after a while.
