Bail pleas of 3 Noakhali war crimes accused rejected
27 January 2015, Nirapad News: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Wednesday turned down the bail petition filed by three war crimes accused of Noakhali.
Justice M Anwarul Haq, chairman of the three-member tribunal, gave the order also asking the jail authorities to provide the accused with treatment,as and when they feel necessary, said Prosecutor Zahid Imam.
The tribunal had fixed today (January 27) for issuing the order after a hearing on the bail pleas on January 18.
The accused–Amir Ahmed alias Amir Ali Razakar, 70, M Yusuf and Joynul Abedin hailing from Naokhali district had been arrested for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
Earlier on October 6, 2015, the tribunal had sent the trio to Dhaka Central Jail.
According to the prosecution, Amir Ali along with one Kalam and Joynal had killed a person and kidnapped another from Paschim Karimpur and Debipur villages in Sudharampur upazila on September 13 during the Liberation War.
Nine people had got killed in the hands of Amir Ali, Yusuf and one Mansur at three villages in the upazila on September 13 in 1971.
Earlier, on October 5 last year, police arrested Amir Ali and Joynul Abedin from Noakhali district town and M Yusuf from Laxmipur district several hours after the tribunal had issued the arrest warrants against five Noakhali war crimes suspects.
