Bangladesh is a role model in globe: Tofail
20 March 2016, Nirapad News: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said Bangladesh has turned into a role model in the world as the country’s economy has been moving speedily forward.
“The present government is providing necessary assistance to the business community under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to run the business smoothly and taking forward the country,” he said.
Tofail Ahmed was addressing as the chief guest at a discussion on “Sustainable Development Goals: Challenges for Bangladesh,” at a hotel in the city, said a press release.
The minister said the government has taken various initiatives including implementation of large projects by own finance and establishing special economic zones to make the country a developed one in the world.
The advisory committee of Commerce Ministry is giving necessary advice aiming to ensure the welfare of business community,” he added.
He said Bangladesh has achieved remarkable progress in various sectors including reserves, exports and remittances.
“The economy of the country is now on strong foundation,” he added.
Tofail also said the Ready Made Garments (RMG) has gone forward overcoming all challenges for the time-befitting initiatives of the government.
“The working environment of the RMG industries is very good. There have no objections from workers. They are happy on wages,” he added.
International Chamber of Commerce-Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman moderated the discussion while World Bank Lead Economist of Dhaka Office Dr Zahid Hussain presented the key note paper.
Among others, Dr A B Mirza Azizul Islam, Former Advisor to a Caretaker Government, attended the discussion.
