Bangladesh issues alert on borders
6 October 2015, Nirapad News: The government has issued alert on land port immigration’s and also in the bordering areas following the recent murders of two foreigners in the country.
Foreign nationals have been advised to be cautious while traveling the bordering area such as Hili and Benapole.
Sources concerned said immigration check posts of Hili and Benapole, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have received the instructions in this regard.
The alert has been issued so that the killers and other criminals cannot escape the country through border and enter neighboring India.
Hili immigration check post officer-in-charge (OC) M Rafikuzzman and BGB-3 Joypurhat battalion operation officer major Nasir Imam Rumi confirmed the matter.
The OC said the suspected travelers are being allowed to cross border to India after thorough interrogation.
Besides issuing the alert at immigration check posts, BGB vigilance has been beefed up in bordering areas so that no one can cross the border illegally.
However, a Japan citizen, Hoshi Kunio, was shot dead by assailants in Beel Kachualutari area under Kaunia upazila of Rangpur district on Saturday.
Earlier on September 28, an Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella was gunned down in city’s Gulshan area.
