Bangladeshis stranded in India will return through Darshana
Passengers carrying Bangladeshi passports who get stranded in India will return to the country through Darshana land port in Chuadanga district on Sunday.
It was decided at an inter-ministerial meeting held on May 12.
The meeting decided to bring the stranded Bangladesh nationals back to the country by three land ports including Darshana land port.
Meanwhile, a preparatory meeting was held today (Saturday) to implement the decision by keeping the Darshana land port open on Saturday.
Chaired by Chuadanga deputy commissioner Md Nazrul Islam Sarker, the meeting was attended by the members of Covid-19 Restriction and District Management Committee.
Besides, Chuadanga police super Md Zahidul Islam, civil surgeon ASM Maruf Hasan, 6 BGB director Lt Col Md Khalequzzaman, Chuadanga Press Club president Sarder Al Amin and others addressed the meeting.
It was told at the meeting that the number of stranded passengers carrying Bangladesh passports in India was more than 1,000. Since they would enter the country through three land ports, more than 300 of them might enter through the Chuadanga land port. So, it was necessary to take preparation at Chuadanga land port.
The meeting also decided to conduct antigen tests of the passengers right at the land port apart from screening the passengers coming from India. Those who would be found Covid-19 positive will be sent to the isolation at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital through the vehicles selected by the committee.
Covid-19 negative passengers would be put at quarantine. Microbuses will be kept standby for carrying the arriving passengers. During the quarantine period, the body temperature of each passenger will be measures and other tests will be conducted.
Nursing Institute situated at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital premises and Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex have been selected as the quarantine centres. If necessary, Chuadanga Technical Training Centre (TTC) and Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (PTI) will be used as quarantine centres in phases.
