Banks to be kept open on limited scale during lockdown

The country’s commercial banks are likely to remain open during the weeklong stricter lockdown from April 14 to April 21 on a limited scale.

The Cabinet Division on Tuesday requested Bangladesh Bank to take the necessary steps for providing banking services to people on a limited scale.

Responding to the request, the Bangladesh Bank has decided to keep the banks open on a limited scale.

The Bangladesh Bankon Monday decided that all banks would be kept closed during the lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The central bank is now working on to issue a revised order following the request from the Cabinet Division, officials concerned said.
