Barbed wire fence erected around Khaleda Zia’s office
9 February 2015, Nirapad News: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office has taken a new look as a barbed wire fence was erected on the boundary wall yesterday in a bid to beef up her security, the party insiders said.
Workers on Sunday erected the fence on top of two boundary walls of the office on road number 86 at Gulshan-2. A security officer of the BNP chief told the press: “ Anyone can jump over the wall, that’s why this barbed-wire fence is being raised in the interest of security.”
Khaleda is staying at her office since Jan 3, when police obstructed her from coming out from there. She called non-stop blockade of highways, railways and waterways from Jan 5, when she was barred again from leaving the office to attend a party programme, marking the first anniversary of the general elections.
Uniformed and plain clothes’ police remained deployed around BNP Chairperson’s office. Police’s Special Branch members are registering names and other details of the visitors to the BNP chief.
The security personnel did not allow any BNP leaders to enter into the office in the last three days but did let her relatives in. Apart from them, late BNP secretary general Khandker Delwar Hossain’s two daughters saw Khaleda Zia on Saturday night.
At her office, the BNP chairperson is accompanied by Vice-Chairperson Selima Rahman, Mohila Dal General Secretary Shirin Sultana, her Advisor Abdul Kaiyum, Special Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan and Security Coordinator Abdul Majid.
