BB, Fed, SWIFT to work together to recover stolen money
17 August 2016, Nirapad News: Bangladesh Bank (BB), the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and global financial messaging service (SWIFT) have expressed their commitment again to work together to recover the stolen money from the central bank’s account with the New York Federal Reserve Bank.
They reiterated the commitment at a meeting in New York on Tuesday while discussing the technical details of the cyber crime and ways of beefing up security measures to prevent recurrence of such crime.
“A five-member team led by Deputy Governor Abu Hena M Razi Hasan left here on August 14 to join a meeting with the senior representatives of Fed and SWIFT on cyber heist that occurred in early February,” BB General Manager FM Mokammel Huq told BSS.
At the meeting, the representatives from all the three organisations also advocated bringing the perpetrators to justice in cooperation with the law enforcing agencies of the countries concerned.
