BCL submits general students’ demands to DU authority
12 October 2015, Nirapad News: Dhaka University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has placed a set of demands of the general students to the varsity authority.
DU unit BCL president Abid Al Hasan placed the demands at a ppress conference held at Madhu’s Canteen on the camps on Monday. He read out a written statement.
About 500 general students alongwith BCL leaders and activists of Dhaka University gathered at the press confrence to press home their demands remained unsettled for many years.
The demands including providing quality and nutritious food in dormitories, making the educational system modern and digitized through adding more modern technologies in classrooms, and laboretories, distributing laptop to poor meritorious students at lower cost, bringing the campus and dormitories under Wi-Fi network, modernizing central library and hall libraries with updated books and technologies.
The other demands include ensuring transportation for all students, medical facilities with round the clock vigilance, establishing more research centers, providing necessary information for scholarship- seekers, reconstructing risk-resistant dormitories and providing scholarship for poor and meritorious students.
The two most important demands are : making the campus free from illegal drug abuse and establishing an anti-eve teasing cell.
Among others, BCL president Saifur Rahman Sohag, general secretary SM Zakir Hossain and DU unit BCL general secretary Motahar Hossain Prince were present at the press meet.
Later, the BCL leaders submitted a memorandum, containing the demands, to DU Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique.
